President/ ceo, Money smarts school of finance for children


At the head of Money Smarts School of Finance for Children is Mrs. Darlene Martin who has more than twenty-five years in the banking and financial services industry.  She obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Administration from Saint Louis University after graduating from Ladue Horton Watkins High School.  She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Theological Studies at Urshan Graduate School of Theology.  Mrs. Martin started her career in financial services as a teller for a local St. Louis bank and worked her way up the corporate latter to the position of Assistant Vice President in Premiere Banking at one of the nation’s largest banks.  


Along the way, Mrs. Martin obtained six professional licenses; Series 6 and 63 licenses which grant her the credentials to offer variable investment products to clients and four insurance licenses – life, health, property and casualty.  Mrs. Martin’s career path also includes experience as an Academic Training Leader at which time her responsibilities included writing training material, the delivery of training and the evaluation of training at one of the nation’s leading wealth management firms.  


After more than twenty-five years in the industry, Mrs. Martin left corporate America and officially organized Money Smarts School of Finance for Children and Money Smarts University to pursue her passion for educating individuals to be money smart.In partnership with Mrs. Martin is the MSSFC Board of Directors which consists of a mixture of financial service professionals at the vice president level and higher, lawyers, educators, parents, and others who share an immeasurable level of passion for preparing children to be successful in life and not just in school.

George Bailey

Project manager, World trade center of st. Louis


George Bailey works for the World Trade Center St. Louis as project manager over the Gateway to the Midwest Investment Center. The Center’s focus is to bring foreign investment to the St. Louis region through the EB-5 investor visa program.

He holds a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis Law School. Before obtaining his J.D., George spent nine years in foreign language education. During this time, he specialized in curriculum development and taught Danish, Chinese and English.At Brigham Young University, he received a B.A. in Chinese and an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. George and his wife and children enjoy being part of the St. Louis community


Russ Bacon

RICP Director and Financial advisor, Montgomery Bank


Russ Bacon is a new addition to the Money Smarts School of Finance Board of Directors offering the organization a wealth of knowledge in the area of wealth management. Russ is a financial advisor and is Director of Montgomery's Wealth Management Division.  He has an MBA with honors in Finance from Washington University in St. Louis and is a Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP).  Russ is the founder of the Wealth Management group and has a team of experienced and talented advisors.  He is licensed in securities (Series 7 & 63), money management (Series 65) and life insurance and annuity products. Russ has been recognized as one of the top wealth managers in St. Louis the past several years as published in St. Louis Magazine.

Russ is married with three children and two grandchildren and greatly enjoys being with family.  He is a pet lover with two dogs, is an avid fly fisherman, woodworker, tennis player and loves all types of outdoor activities including hiking and gardening which he shares with his wife.  Russ has also enjoyed being a SCUBA diving instructor, martial arts instructor, and a private pilot.

He volunteers through the Veterans Administration Medical Center with Project Healing Waters, helping Wound Warriors with therapeutic fly fishing and fly tying activities. He has a therapy dog (Bailey is a rescue) with whom he visits veterans in the VA Hospitals as well doing visits to long-term care and nursing facilities, and a rehabilitation hospital.  Russ has joined with Money Smarts School of Finance for Children as a volunteer instructor to help teach young kids about money and the markets.




William Luster

Market development manager, kimberly-clark


William P. Luster is the Immediate Past President of The 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis. He is currently employed by Kimberly-Clark Corporation as Market Development Manager.  In 25 years with Kimberly-Clark, he has held roles in Marketing, Sales, Management, and Recruiting. Mr. Luster has served on the advisory board for Junior Achievement and is a past board member for Rockhurst University. 

​He is a graduate of Rockhurst University, where he received his Bachelor's of Science Degree and continued his education at California State University, where he received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

Rodney Malone

Vice president of private banking, the business bank of st. louis


Rodney Malone has over 20 years of experience in banking with an array of awards and recognition behind his name. As Vice President and an expert in personal banking, Rodney takes pride in the cultivation and building of client relationships. Mr. Malone is also responsible for maintaining an active role within the community by working with civic and cultural organizations and small businesses that are looking to improve the economic welfare of the surrounding area.

Rodney holds a marketing degree from Florida Metropolitan University in Tampa where he graduated top of his class. Malone then traveled to St. Louis where he pursued his graduate degree at Maryville University and attained his certification and licensing for the Series 6 and 63 licenses  as well as a Notary certification.

Mrs. Jeffery currently works with the Missouri Office of Community Engagement..  Prior to this position she held the position of Manager, Financial Services at The Prudential Insurance Company of America. As Manager, Financial Services, she is a member of the leadership team in the Greater Heartland Agency in St. Louis, Missouri.  She has responsibility for recruiting, selecting and developing high-quality Financial Professional Associates (FPAs) to join her in representing The Prudential Insurance Company of America.  She is actively involved in the local community and interested in networking with other business professionals. Mrs. Jeffery was recognized in 2011 for The Greater Heartland Agency Growth Award.  She has managed to grow and develop a diverse team of Financial Professional Associates from having extensive community relationships.  She currently has several women on her team working as Financial Professional Associates and several culturally diverse Financial Professional Associates and several members of the military working as well.
