At the head of Money Smarts School of Finance for Children is Mrs. Darlene Martin who has more than twenty-five years in the banking and financial services industry. She obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Administration from Saint Louis University after graduating from Ladue Horton Watkins High School. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Theological Studies at Urshan Graduate School of Theology. Mrs. Martin started her career in financial services as a teller for a local St. Louis bank and worked her way up the corporate latter to the position of Assistant Vice President in Premiere Banking at one of the nation’s largest banks.
Along the way, Mrs. Martin obtained six professional licenses; Series 6 and 63 licenses which grant her the credentials to offer variable investment products to clients and four insurance licenses – life, health, property and casualty. Mrs. Martin’s career path also includes experience as an Academic Training Leader at which time her responsibilities included writing training material, the delivery of training and the evaluation of training at one of the nation’s leading wealth management firms.
After more than twenty-five years in the industry, Mrs. Martin left corporate America and officially organized Money Smarts School of Finance for Children and Money Smarts University to pursue her passion for educating individuals to be money smart.In partnership with Mrs. Martin is the MSSFC Board of Directors which consists of a mixture of financial service professionals at the vice president level and higher, lawyers, educators, parents, and others who share an immeasurable level of passion for preparing children to be successful in life and not just in school.
Russ Bacon is a new addition to the Money Smarts School of Finance Board of Directors offering the organization a wealth of knowledge in the area of wealth management. Russ is a financial advisor and is Director of Montgomery's Wealth Management Division. He has an MBA with honors in Finance from Washington University in St. Louis and is a Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP). Russ is the founder of the Wealth Management group and has a team of experienced and talented advisors. He is licensed in securities (Series 7 & 63), money management (Series 65) and life insurance and annuity products. Russ has been recognized as one of the top wealth managers in St. Louis the past several years as published in St. Louis Magazine.
Russ is married with three children and two grandchildren and greatly enjoys being with family. He is a pet lover with two dogs, is an avid fly fisherman, woodworker, tennis player and loves all types of outdoor activities including hiking and gardening which he shares with his wife. Russ has also enjoyed being a SCUBA diving instructor, martial arts instructor, and a private pilot.
He volunteers through the Veterans Administration Medical Center with Project Healing Waters, helping Wound Warriors with therapeutic fly fishing and fly tying activities. He has a therapy dog (Bailey is a rescue) with whom he visits veterans in the VA Hospitals as well doing visits to long-term care and nursing facilities, and a rehabilitation hospital. Russ has joined with Money Smarts School of Finance for Children as a volunteer instructor to help teach young kids about money and the markets.
William P. Luster is the Immediate Past President of The 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis. He is currently employed by Kimberly-Clark Corporation as Market Development Manager. In 25 years with Kimberly-Clark, he has held roles in Marketing, Sales, Management, and Recruiting. Mr. Luster has served on the advisory board for Junior Achievement and is a past board member for Rockhurst University.
He is a graduate of Rockhurst University, where he received his Bachelor's of Science Degree and continued his education at California State University, where he received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
